Orchids are very popular because of the delicacy and elegance they exude. It is sometimes called the butterfly orchid because of the shape of its petals.

  • Flowers can be white, purple, pink, yellow, green, bicolor, tricolor.
  • Its long, alternate, fleshy dark green leaves are at the very bottom of the stem.
  • Greyish green aerial roots emerge from the pot, and others coexist there with sphagnum shavings or moss.

They are often grown in transparent pots, the aim being to be able to see the roots inside. The color of these gives a good indication of when to water, that is to say when they have the same color as the aerial roots, gray green. Seeing the quantity of roots allows you to know when to repot, that is to say when there are more roots visible than chips.

It likes good lighting and good humidity. During the winter, they can be placed on a window sill; the cold will help stimulate flowering. They can flower all year round, intermittently.
