This is pure and simply a wonderful foliage plant. It originates from Southeast Asia, where trees can reach a height of 30m. It produces a white, milky sap (latex) which was a source of natural rubber, hence its name. Leaves are broad, shiny and green with burgundy-pink variegation, and when the plant is still small, it makes a wonderful centre piece on the table. When the plant begins to mature, set it on the floor and stake the trunk to keep it growing upright. It is important not to over water the plant, or to move it around too much. Otherwise, the Ruby Rubber Tree is an easy keeper.
