Petite Perle is a new, cold-hardy grape developed in Minnesota by Tom Plocher and dubbed a real game changer in the cold climate wine grape world for cold-hardy hybrid winemakers. With incredible cold hardiness, vines have survived temperatures down to -32ºC, including sharp drops down to -45º. Late bud burst and a drooping growth habit. Low maintenance, vines require only one pruning in the spring. Thick skins, resistance to splitting. Early lignifications and good resistance to disease, including rot on bunches. Low acid levels make Petite Perle ideal for northern red wine making, typically dark garnet in colour.
