Fertilizer products are applied to promote and maintain plant nutrition and growth. Used primarily in the vegetable garden, flower beds and on the lawn, fertilizers provide plants with the nutrients they need to thrive. Mineral and synthetic fertilizers produce quick results and only small amounts are required to be effective.

Fertilizers for planting and maintenance - gardens and flowers

BOTANIX fertilizers combine the benefits of organic matter with the high-solubility and mineral-rich ratios of synthetic fertilizers. The standard three number code indicating nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content (N, P, K) is clearly indicated on all fertilizers. BOTANIX carries both granular and water-soluble fertilizers.

Granular fertilizers

When planting, apply granular fertilizer near plant roots to do the most good. The slow-release action and slower absorption means the fertilizer will remain effective for a longer period of time. For your seasonal garden maintenance, spread granular fertilizer on your flower beds then work it into the soil.

Fertilizer for annuals, perennials and rose bushes 8-12-10

This is a balanced fertilizer to encourage abundant and colourful blooms. It provides elements essential to plant growth and increased resistance to insects and disease. Made principally from organic matter, this fertilizer protects and improves soil structure.

Use and guidelines

  • Annuals, perennials and clematis
  • Rose bushes
  • Add fertilizer to the soil using a hoe, then water. For optimum results, repeat every 4 weeks.

Fertilizer for deciduous trees, conifers and hedges 15-5-15

The fertilizer for deciduous trees, conifers and hedges boosts their annual growth, enhances plant vigour and increases their resistance to disease. Bud development and the blooms of flowering trees and shrubs are more abundant. Most of the nitrogen contained in this fertilizer is slow-release and provides continuous fertilization over a long period of time.

Use and guidelines

  • Trees
  • Shrubs
  • Hedges
  • Add fertilizer to the soil using a hoe, then water. For optimum results, repeat every 4 weeks.

Fertilizer for deciduous trees, conifers and hedges – fall 4-8-16

This autumn fertilizer contains iron and magnesium to help plants withstand winter's extreme cold and thaw conditions. It encourages sturdy stems that will enable budding the following spring.

Use and guidelines

  • Trees
  • Shrubs
  • Cedar hedges
  • Add fertilizer using a hoe, then water. For optimum results, repeat every four weeks starting in September.

Fertilizer for tomato and vegetable plants 6-10-14

The fertilizer for tomato and vegetable plants can also be used for herbs. Enriched with calcium, it helps prevent the appearance of black spots on tomatoes and stimulates an abundant harvest of delicious vegetables.

Use and guidelines

  • Tomato plants and vegetables
  • Herbs
  • Add fertilizer to the soil and water. To maximise results, repeat the application every 4 weeks.

Soil Acidifier

For improved nutrient absorption, the pH levels (potential of Hydrogen) should be between 6 and 7. When the pH level is below 6.5, as in sandy soils, you need to increase the acidity by adding sulfur. When the pH level is above 7.5, as in clay soils, you must reduce the acidity by adding lime. Acid-loving plants, such as blueberries, azaleas, rhododendrons and blue hydrangeas, absorb nutrients more effectively in a lower pH soil, which is why a soil acidifier is effective.

Water-soluble fertilizers

Liquid fertilizers act faster than granular fertilizers. Although you need to prepare the solution, you can use it throughout the growing season as a maintenance fertilizer. Apply liquid fertilizer to the base of a plant, avoiding the foliage.

Water-soluble fertilizer for flowering plants 15-30-15

The water-soluble fertilizer for flowering plants ensures vigorous plant growth. It encourages abundant flowering and is ideal for all flowering plants, as much for indoor plants as annuals and perennials.

Use and guidelines

  • Outdoor flowering plants: fertilize every 2 weeks
  • Indoor flowering plants: fertilize every 4 weeks
  • Dissolve in water and apply enough nutrient solution to moisten the plant's entire root system. Use a watering can or a hose-end sprayer.

All-purpose water-soluble fertilizer 20-20-20

The all-purpose water soluble fertilizer contributes to dense, healthy and vibrant foliage. It produces balanced fertilization that is suitable for all plants, both indoors and out.

Use and guidelines

  • Outdoor plants: fertilize every 2 weeks
  • Indoor plants: fertilize every 4 weeks
  • Dissolve in water and apply enough nutrient solution to moisten the plant's entire root system. Use a watering can or hose-end sprayer.

Transplant fertilizer

Transplant fertilizer – bone meal 4-10-0

Gardeners have long used bone meal to minimize transplant shock. The high levels of phosphorus, organically-sourced, promote root development. It is also a choice fertilizer for fruit-vegetables such as tomato, pepper and eggplant. It stimulates flower and bulb production.

Use and guidelines

  • Vegetable garden, annuals and perennials
  • Trees, shrubs and rose bushes
  • Bulbs
  • Add fertilizer to the soil when planting and water.
