Turkish Orange is an African species of eggplant with a wonderful, rich flavour and tomato-like shape. The skin is orange with red stripes when ripe, although it is better to pick them when they are still green and just turning a cream colour – they’ll never be sweeter. Turkish Orange are a rich source of antioxidants and a favourite with vegetarians due to their meaty texture. Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost, then plant out in rich, fertile, well-drained soil.
Plants are compact at maturity, but small enough to grow in patio containers.
