Sombrero developed a series of coneflowers bred specifically for their winter hardiness, superior branching and high bud count. The Sangrita coneflower features blooms with scarlet red petals around a burgundy cone on burgundy red stems. With an upright habit and green foliage, plants thrive in sunny conditions and will grow 20 inches tall and spread 24 inches. Deadheading will encourage new blooms. Low maintenance and drought tolerant, these summer-bloomers are suitable for container-growing, borders, flower beds, just about anywhere! Effective as cut flowers. Cut back close to the ground in late fall after a hard freeze, but leave a few dried flower heads behind so winter birds can eat the seeds.
