The Wishbone or Clown Flower (Torenia) feature beautiful pure white flowers with a splash of deep purple at their throats. Blooms appear early and continue through the fall. Annuals, they grow in full shade to partial sun and are ideally suited to shade gardens, as ground cover, or for edging around the garden. They grow 6-10 inches tall with a spread of 10-12 inches and ideally in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Plants are upright in shape and somewhat bushy with bright to dark green foliage. Their mounding/trailing growth habit makes them a fine choice for containers and hanging baskets. Plants trail up to 24 inches. The flowers are deer resistant, though they do attract hummingbirds.
