Poblano is a large, mild Mexican chili pepper. Heart-shaped and green, they ripen to a deep red or brown. Measuring between 1000 and 1500 on the Scoville scale, they can be roasted, sauteed, or dried - when they’re known as Ancho peppers. Of course, they’re fantastic in Chilis! Best grown in containers, you can start them indoors in rich, well-drained soil, then place outside when there is no more danger of frost. Blooms June through September, harvest approximately 65 days after planting seeds, when peppers are 10-15 cm long.
